We’ve successfully completed our first school visits around NZ! Here are a few facts and figures:
- 1050 kids and community members flown.
- 30 schools visited, plus 2 community events carried out.
- In-class presentations to 1800 kids between years 5 and 10, (Our education programme still continues for up to two terms after the balloon’s visit)
- Drove over 9000kms.
- Started 1 week late due to bad weather, but finished 3 weeks ahead of schedule.
- Percentage of happy kids that flew: 100%
A huge thank you to my fellow trustees on the Flying High Charitable Trust who have volunteered many hours in order to make this project happen, as well as the many kind people and schools around NZ who have hosted me. It’s been a fantastic experience.
The work is only just beginning: There’s a lot of information to review, funding to apply for and planning for next year to be carried out.
I look forward to continuing to improve the project and bringing inspiration to kids around NZ, helping to build positive, innovative and sustainably-minded communities through STEAM learning.
